Magnet Status

UF Health Shands hospitals and programs received a fifth consecutive Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center in spring 2023. UF Health Shands joins only 43 other health care organizations in the nation to receive the Magnet designation five or more consecutive times after the first designation was received in 2003.

In 2021, UF Health Jacksonville was again recognized for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. UF Health Jacksonville has received this five-year designation three consecutive times, first in 2011 and again in 2016.

The Magnet Recognition Program uses a rigorous process designed to recognize nursing excellence and provide consumers with the ultimate benchmark to measure quality care. To maintain ANCC Magnet status, we have consistently demonstrated nursing’s effectiveness in meeting evolving standards for nursing excellence.
