Manages day to day operations in a clinical laboratory cost center, including administrative and technical support of laboratory services, problem resolution, technical development and procedure implementation, financial management, purchasing, etc. Responsible for human resource management (hiring/firing, performance evaluations, etc.), budget development (in conjunction with Manager) and budget monitoring.
Performs simple and complex analysis on tissue, blood and body fluids using laboratory instrumentation, manual methods and standard operating procedures. Trains other technical personnel in the performance of laboratory tasks. Approves the performance of tests by technicians. Uses independent judgment and assumes accountability for high quality standards.
