Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU)
Rehab Services Specialties - Inpatient Acute Care

Occupational therapists and physical therapists provide services to patients with cardiopulmonary dysfunction at all levels of rehab.

Both OTs and PTs have a strong presence within our Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) and general cardiopulmonary teams. Physicians rely heavily on therapist input during the decision-making process in regard to listing patients in need of heart and lung transplants.

Patients served have cardiac and/or pulmonary dysfunction and are being medically or surgically managed. Specialty areas include managing pre- and post- heart and lung transplants, working with patients with Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD) and performing Inspiratory Muscle Training (IMT) to assist with ventilator weaning. Rehab focus is on assessment and treatment based on best practice patterns related to cardiopulmonary rehab and education.
