Manages day to day operations in a clinical laboratory cost center, including administrative and technical support of laboratory services, problem resolution, technical development and procedure implementation, financial management, purchasing, etc. Responsible for human resource management (hiring/firing, performance evaluations, etc.), budget development (in conjunction with Manager) and budget monitoring. Supervises specimen collection requirements, accessioning, and preparation of specimens for analysis, testing and reporting. Performs analytical procedures when required. Responsible for Quality Assurance functions including data collection, analysis and reporting.

Bachelor Degree in Medical Technology or Bachelor Degree in a physical, chemical or biological science or 90 semester hours of science and completion of an AHCA approved training program. Five years of experience as a Medical Technologist is required of which one year in a lead or supervisory position is preferred.

Prefer at least three years’ experience in human histocompatibility or transplant immunology testing under the supervision of a qualified director or technical supervisor.

Or a related associate’s degree or certificate, as required by CLIA, and five years of supervised experience if a bachelor’s degree has not been earned. A Certified Histocompatibility Specialist (CHS ABHI) certification is strongly recommended.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Must possess a current license as a State of Florida Clinical Laboratory Supervisor in Hematology and Serology/Immunology is required. Temporary licensure must be permanent within one year of accepting the position; if not, the position is automatically forfeited.
