Established in 1958, UF Health Shands Hospital, located in Gainesville, Fla., is a private, not-for-profit academic medical center that specializes in tertiary and quaternary care for critically ill patients.

UF Health Shands Hospital operates a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and one of Florida’s four regional burn centers. It is also one of only 15 Agency for HealthCare Administration-designated stroke centers in the state and the only one in north central Florida.
